Crazy Paper

This project was part of my Advanced Higher at school and was based on a crazy circus theme! I went through SOOooo much paper!! I adopted the scooby doo technique that some of you may remember making when you were younger with plastic string and I choose to do this with thicker paper strips.
I incorporated different colours with black to make this very interesting effect- all colour would have been too much! I then made the veryyyyy long scooby doo into ruff shaped structures based on the ruffs that clowns wear but also from the Elizabethan Era in Victorian Times. I held the structure through using plastic straws slotted in-between gaps, stitching and a bit of the glue gun for extra strength. I tried to base the structure around the body as well as I could by placing it on the shoulders, it was pretty difficult as it was very heavy from all the paper but it was all part of the learning process. Thoroughly enjoyed this project but making it was driving me crazy as do all my projects as I like repetition in my work.
I made Flora wear something very simple underneath as the main purpose of the photos were on my final piece. She is wearing a mesh top from H&M, she bought the material of the skirt in Thailand and made this herself, 2-tone tights are ASOS and good old Jeffery Campbells!

Hope you've enjoyed!
